EN Even in the darkest times, the light of kindness cannot be dimmed! Thanks to Damen Helpt
Foundation, Help Ukrainians Association, and MDEM Intl., the dreams of Ukrainian children
became a reality – they embarked on an exciting winter adventure filled with new knowledge,
warm encounters, and true friendship.
Rocket attacks and blackouts did not ruin their holiday. Instead, they enjoyed the picturesque
mountains of Romania, discovered its rich history and hospitality, and met peers who became
like family to them.
This year’s winter camp in Brașov had a unique concept: the children not only relaxed but also
immersed themselves in the world of the hotel and restaurant business. Living in a mini-hotel,
they took on responsibilities such as cooking, cleaning, and event organization. They had to learn
teamwork, decision-making, and creativity by designing menus and shopping for groceries.
In addition, they participated in exciting workshops, quests, excursions to Bran and Peleș Castles, a hike to Mount Sinai, exploration of the mysterious Valea Cetății Cave, and outdoor
ice skating. At Dino Park Râșnov, they even came face-to-face with dinosaurs that looked as if
they had just stepped out of the pages of history!
The real highlight was a trip to the American Hotel Academy and the five-star Swissôtel
Poiana Brașov. There, the children not only learned how careers in the hospitality industry are
built but were also inspired by the stories of real professionals who climbed the ladder from front
desk receptionist to managing a luxury hotel.
The winter camp had one common goal – to teach children to create value for others. And this
mission was accomplished 100%!
